Initial Music Magazine Ideas.

I have chosen a title for my magazine which is JB. I have decided to use this title because my magazine is an English version of a Japanese magazine and the title means 'British+Japanese' and I think that the title relates to my magazine. However, the details and texts which are going to include in my magazine will be in English which is convenient for British readers.

The first demographic I looked at for my magazine were gender and age group. I am aiming female as I thought that my magazine will be a unique music magazine and there is not many feminine music magazine in the market. The age group that I have decided for my target audience is 18 - 25 and this is because they will be the most likely audience to buy my magazine and the products which are promoting in my magazine. This age group has a certain amount of spending money and they are interested in latest gadgets products and fashionable information. I think that they are willing to spend time reading magazines as the intellectual level of my magazine will be average but a balance of pictures and texts. I would give my magazine an income demographic because this age group normally has a stable income and they are always willing to spend on trendy products such as magazines to keep them up to date.

Secondly, I have also looked at the geographic for my magazine as there is a lot of foreigners living in the UK and they are more likely to be interested in this type of music magazine because they would like to know the singers from Asia and news about them. My magazine will appeal to some British audiences who are fascinated by Asian culture, especially Japanese culture. Moreover, I looked at the psychographic for my magazine in terms of the website called 'UK Tribes'. From this website I have found a 'tribes' that I think my magazine would appeal to this type of audiences. This is:

Trendies http://www.uktribes.com/?p=tribe&id=1. Other than that, I think that my magazine will also appeal to aspirers and individuals such as university students.

I have decided my magazine would be priced at £2.99 because this is a reasonable price at average of a music magazine. However, it contains a lot foreign and unusual information that audiences are interested in. My magazine will be produced monthly because I think it would become overly expensive, and it can include a lot more interesting features and regulars in my magazine for a monthly update.

The content of my magazine will be similar to Blender in a way as it contains band/singer news, band/singer reviews, freebies etc. However it will also include more different features such as interviews of well known bands/singers, fashion news and non-fanous bands. It will cover both Western and Asian bands and singers rather than concentrating on one side. In each issue, there will be a language tutorial section at the end of my magazine which could interested non-Japanese speakers to know about this language and learning simple phrases. There will also be a regular introduction of some famous artists in Asia for British readers and I think this section will help them to understand more about these artists' music and performances.

My magazine will be in a similar style as Kindai and In Tune. However, my coverpage would have more coverlines than inTune and more different fonts. Also there will be more colour which is the similar idea to Kindai. My cover page will be a large image of a famous band and a lot of coverlines about what is inside the magazine. I think that a large image on the cover will attract audiences to buy my magazine as well as their curious of the coverlines details. My unique selling point will be a mix of Western and Asian genre whereas there is not many in the market.
